OHL Roundup: Konecny scores twice, Trudeau stops 47 shots as 67's edge Steelheads

OTTAWA - Travis Konecny scored twice in regulation and again in the shootout as the Ottawa 67's edged the visiting Mississauga Steelheads 5-4 on Tuesday in Ontario Hockey League action.

Dante Salituro also had a pair of goals in regulation for the 67's (23-35-5), who jumped into seventh spot in the Eastern Conference standings, while Brendan Bell and Erik Bradford each chipped in with two assists.

Sean Day scored twice for the Steelheads (23-35-5), who sit eighth in the East, and Damian Bourne and Jared Walsh had the others.

Ottawa's Philippe Trudeau kicked out 47-of-51 shots for the win as Mississauga's Spencer Martin made 20 saves in defeat.

SPIRIT 5 STING 2

SAGINAW, MICH. — Cody Payne scored twice and Jesse Mitchell set up four goals as the Spirit handed Sarnia its fourth straight defeat.

Dylan Sadowy, Luke Cairns and Eric Locke also scored for Saginaw (31-27-5).

Brandon Lindberg and Jimmy McDowell scored for the Sting (16-40-7), who have one victory in their last 10 outings.

Nikita Serebryakov made 22 saves for the Spirit while Sarnia's Justin Fazio stopped 30-of-35 shots in a losing cause.

STORM 2 RANGERS 0

KITCHENER, Ont. — Justin Nichols stopped all 33 shots his way as Guelph blanked the Rangers to become the first OHL team to hit the 100-point mark this season.

Robby Fabbri opened the scoring for the Storm (49-11-3) at 10:06 of the second period and Zack Mitchell added insurance into an empty net in the final minute of regulation.

Matthew Greenfield gave Kitchener (22-38-3) every opportunity to win by turning away 49-of-50 shots.

Guelph leads the Western Conference standings while the Rangers sit in ninth, 10 points out of the final playoff spot.
