Phoenix Coyotes acquire F Martin Erat from Washington Capitals

GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Phoenix Coyotes have acquired forwards Martin Erat and John Mitchell in a trade with the Washington Capitals.

The Coyotes sent forward Chris Brown, defenceman Rostislav Klesla and a fourth-round selection in the 2015 draft to Washington to complete the deal on Tuesday.

The NHL trade deadline is Wednesday afternoon.

The 32-year-old Erat has one goal, 23 assists and 22 penalty minutes in 53 games with the Capitals this season.

Brown and Klesla will report to Hershey of the American Hockey League.

Quote of the Day

I had one really not-good game. I came back to the hotel and he [his father] was on Skype. My mother called first and said, 'Your father wants to talk to you.' So he moved my mother away, and he yelled at me for like 30 seconds. I understood him, and then he said, 'I'm done.' And he was gone. The next game I got my first shutout.
