Canadiens acquire Weaver from Panthers
The Montreal Canadiens have acquired defenseman Mike Weaver from the Florida Panthers for a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

The Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday acquired defenseman Mike Weaver from the Florida Panthers in a trade for a fifth-round pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Weaver has no goals and six points in 55 games this season. He has averaged 18:47 of ice time per game, which is fourth on the Panthers.

Listed at 5-foot-10 and 183 pounds, Weaver has the third-highest Corsi for percentage this season (50.9 percent) among Panthers defensemen despite facing the toughest competition of the group, according to ExtraSkater.com. He will turn 36 years old in May.
