Panthers acquire Pirri in trade with Blackhawks
The Florida Panthers acquired center Brandon Pirri from the Chicago Blackhawks for a pair of draft picks on Sunday.

The Florida Panthers acquired center Brandon Pirri from the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night in exchange for Florida's third-round pick at the 2014 NHL Draft and a fifth-round selection in 2016.

Pirri, 22, was selected by Chicago in the second round (No. 59) at the 2009 NHL Draft. He has split this season between the Blackhawks and Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. Pirri was playing with Rockford, where he had 11 goals and 15 assists in 26 games, at the time of the trade. He had six goals and five assists in 28 games for Chicago this season.

Panthers general manager Dale Tallon was working for Chicago in the same capacity when the Blackhawks drafted Pirri.

Pirri (6-feet, 190 pounds) has six goals and seven assists in 35 NHL games.
