Canucks' Henrik Sedin expected to play Wednesday
Vancouver Canucks center Henrik Sedin is expected to return to the lineup Wednesday when the team faces off against the St. Louis Blues, according to coach John Tortorella.

Vancouver Canucks center Henrik Sedin is expected to return to the lineup Wednesday when the team plays the St. Louis Blues, according to coach John Tortorella.

Sedin missed the Canucks' final two games and eight of the final 10 before the break for the 2014 Sochi Olympics with a rib injury. The ailment caused the Swedish forward to sit out the entire Olympic tournament.

The Vancouver captain missed practice this week for personal reasons but Tortorella confirmed Tuesday that Sedin would be back in the lineup against the Blues.

Tortorella said he did not have any further information about center Ryan Kesler, who has undergone an MRI after sustaining a hand injury in Sochi and is considered day-to-day.

When the rib and a finger injury forced Sedin to sit out last month, it marked the first time since March 2004 he had missed a game. Sedin's franchise-record 679 consecutive games is the sixth-longest ironman streak in NHL history and at the time trailed only St. Louis Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester's 683 straight as the longest streak among active players.

Sedin leads the Canucks with 31 assists and is tied for the team lead with 40 points in 52 games.
