Lightning claim Kostka off waivers from Blackhawks
The Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday claimed defenseman Michael Kostka on waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks

The Tampa Bay Lightning claimed defenseman Michael Kostka off waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday.

Kostka had two goals, one assist and a plus-3 rating in nine games for Chicago. He missed most of October and all of November with a lower-body injury. He was a healthy scratch in the Blackhawks' five games before the Olympic break and 13 times in the past 16 games.

He also had an assist and a plus-3 rating in two games with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League this season.

Kostka signed a one-year, $625,000 contract with the Blackhawks in July after playing in a career-high 35 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2012-13, when he also set career-highs in assists (eight) and points (eight).

In 2011-12 Kostka won a Calder Cup championship with the Lightning affiliate Norfolk Admirals, where he had six goals, 12 points and a plus-14 rating in 18 games.
