Canadian forward John Tavares will miss rest of Olympics with leg injury

SOCHI, Russia - Canadian forward John Tavares has left the Olympic hockey quarter-final against Latvia with an apparent injury.

The New York Islanders captain was taken into the boards by Arturs Kulda in the second period.

The Canadian went down in a heap but skated to the bench where he was seen wincing in pain.

It wasn't immediately clear where Tavares hurt himself.

Tavares hasn't recorded a point in the tournament.

Quote of the Day

I'm very excited about what happened today. We've worked on this deal with Toronto for a month, or over a month. It got a little bit of legs on draft day, but it really heated up last night, and we were able to complete the deal today.
