Sharks send F John McCarthy to minors for Olympic break

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Sharks have reassigned forward John McCarthy to Worcester of the AHL during the Olympic break.

General manager Doug Wilson announced the move on Saturday. It came one day after McCarthy scored his first goal since 2010 to help the Sharks beat Columbus 3-2 in their final game before the nearly three-week break.

McCarthy has one goal and one assist in 36 games with San Jose this season.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
