QMJHL Roundup: Joly scores twice to lift Oceanic over Sea Dogs 4-2

SAINT JOHN, N.B. - Michael Joly scored twice to lift the visiting Rimouski Oceanic over the Saint John Sea Dogs 4-2 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play on Friday.

Ryan MacKinnon also scored for Rimouski (30-15-7), who outshot the league-worst Sea Dogs 32-16. William Couture added an empty-net goal with 31 seconds to play, and Alexis Loiseau chipped in with three assists.

Olivier LeBlanc scored a power-play goal in the first period for Saint John (16-32-4), and Jason Cameron pulled the Sea Dogs within one at 17:32 of the third period.

Philippe Desrosiers made 14 saves for the win while Sebastien Auger picked up the loss after stopping 28 of 31 shots.

ARMADA 5 TITAN 1

BATHURST, Que. — Martel Danick scored his 27th and 28th goals of the season to lead the Armada over Acadie-Bathurst.

Marc-Olivier Roy, Dominic Talbot-Tassi, and Philippe Sanche also scored for Blainville-Boisbriand (33-10-9), while Nikita Jevpalovs added two assists.

Gabriel Gosselin was the lone scorer for Acadie-Bathurst (17-32-6) with a power-play goal in the second period.

Armada goaltender Etienne Marcoux made 16 saves for the win, while Acadie-Bathurst's Jacob Brennan stopped 34 shots in the losing effort.

WILDCATS 7 ISLANDERS 1

MONCTON — Ivan Barbashev scored three goals and helped on two others as the Wildcats dominated the Islanders.

Christophe Lalonde scored twice, Vladimir Tkachev had a goal and three assists, and Will Smith added the other Wildcats' (27-25-2) goal. Alex Dubeau made 27 saves in the victory.

Troy Vance replied for Charlottetown (17-31-5), who have lost nine in a row.

Mason McDonald started in net for the Islanders, making 25 saves on 32 shots. Eric Brassard played the last 21 seconds of the game, facing zero shots.

REMPARTS 3 VOLTIGEURS 0

QUEBEC CITY — Anthony Duclair scored his league-leading 47th goal of the season and added an assist as the Remparts edged Drummondville.

Captain Kurt Etchegary also had a goal and an assist for the Remparts (31-14-8), who snapped a two-game skid with the win. Nick Sorensen scored the other Quebec goal.

Francois Brassard made 34 saves for the shutout, while Louis-Philip Guindon stopped 31 shots for the Voltigeurs (32-17-3).

Both teams were unsuccessful on the power play, with Drummondville held scoreless on six attempts, and Quebec failing to take advantage of five man-advantage opportunities.

TIGRES 7 PHOENIX 2

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. — Yan Pavel Laplante scored twice and added an assist as the Tigres toppled Sherbrooke.

Mark Tremaine had a goal and an assist for Victoriaville (27-19-6), and Carl-Antoine Delisle, Felix Boucher, Angelo Miceli, and Gabriel Gagne also scored.

Vincent Deslauriers and Jean-Francois Lavoie replied for Sherbrooke (15-30-7).

Tigres goaltender Francois Tremblay made 22 saves. Sherbrooke's Francois Desrosiers turned aside 36 shots in the loss.

DRAKKAR 2 CATARACTES 1 (SO)

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Charles Hudon and Valentin Zykov scored in a shootout to lift the league-leading Drakkar to a comeback victory over Shawinigan.

Maxime St-Cyr tied the game for Baie-Comeau (37-13-4) at 13:22 of the third period.

Kris Hodge had the lone goal for the Cataractes (15-31-8).

Drakkar goalie Simon Lemieux made 34 saves, while Shawinigan's Marvin Cupper stopped 36 shots in the loss.

OLYMPIQUES 4 SCREAMING EAGLES 0

GATINEAU, Que. — Robert Steeves made just 14 saves but it was enough to earn his first shutout of the season as the Olympiques blanked Cape Breton.

Emilie Poirier, Simon Tardif-Richard, Alexis Pepin, and Martin Reway scored for Gatineau (32-17-4).

Alex Bureau was busier in net. The Cape Breton (27-24-3) goalie made 39 saves in the losing effort.

The Olympiques outshot their opponents 43-14 and held Cape Breton to just two shots in the third period.

HUSKIES 4 SAGUENEENS 3

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Jason Fuchs' second-period goal held up as the winner as the Huskies staved off a late Chicoutimi rally.

Julien Nantel, Jack Nevins, and Francis Perron also scored for Rouyn-Noranda (29-18-5), and Marcus Power assisted on all four goals.

Chicoutimi (25-27-1) got goals from Janne Puhakka, Nicolas Roy, and Dominic Beauchemin, who also added two assists.

Alexandre Belanger made 26 saves for the win. Domenic Graham stopped 29 of 33 shots in defeat.
