Penguins acquire Machacek from Blue Jackets
The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded forward Paul Thompson to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forward Spencer Machacek.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have traded forward Paul Thompson to the Columbus Blue Jackets for forward Spencer Machacek.

Thompson, 25, has played the past four seasons for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. He has four goals and seven points in 39 games this season. He scored 20 goals in 58 games last season.

Machacek, 25, has nine goals and 19 points this season for the Springfield Falcons. He's played in 25 NHL games with the Atlanta Thrashers and Winnipeg Jets, scoring two goals and nine points.
