Fortunus, Mueller score twice to lead Texas Stars over Toronto Marlies 6-0

CEDAR PARK, Texas - Stars captain Maxime Fortunus scored two power-play goals and assisted on another as Texas snapped a two-game slide with a 6-0 pummelling of the Toronto Marlies in American Hockey League action on Saturday.

Chris Mueller also had two goals and an assist, and Curtis McKenzie and Mike Hedden rounded out the offence for the West division-leading Stars (28-13-5).

Texas goalie Cristopher Nilstorp made 19 saves for his second shutout of the season.

Marlies goaltender Drew MacIntyre started in net, but was pulled after giving up four goals on 36 shots through just over 39 minutes. Garret Sparks stopped 11 of 13 shots in relief.

Toronto (26-15-4) mustered just two shots on net through the third period, and was outshot 49-19 in the game.

Texas was 3 for 11 on the power play while the Marlies, who racked up 64 penalty minutes on 18 infractions, were scoreless on four chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
