NEW YORK -- New York Rangers forward Dominic Moore wanted to make the most of a once-in-a-lifetime hockey experience provided by a two-game, five-day residency at Yankee Stadium. So, as his team prepared for a Saturday evening practice at the baseball field, Moore took to the field with a baseball glove and tossed a ball around with team personnel.

By the time the two games of the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series finished, it was clear Moore had enjoyed a memorable doubleheader in the Bronx.

The Rangers won both games, 2-1 Wednesday night against the New York Islanders and 7-3 against the New Jersey Devils on Sunday afternoon. Moore registered three points during the two games, including an assist on Daniel Carcillo's game-winner against the Islanders. The goal by Carcillo concluded a key rush started by Moore on a play that saw New York's fourth line, which includes center Brian Boyle, come up big when their team needed it most.

"We were talking to each other on the bench and we told each other, 'Just stay with it. It could be ugly, but if we just stick with it, we may get a chance,'" Moore said. "It ended up coming, but I thought it was a solid defensive effort too, all around. We did a good job of defending our net."

Moore entered his second stint with the Rangers when he signed a one-year deal with the club during the summer. He struggled at the start of the season, collecting one point in his first 24 games. But since being placed with Boyle and Carcillo, who the Rangers acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 4, Moore has found a knack for making plays.

In New York's outdoor win against the New Jersey Devils, Moore registered a goal and an assist in a first period which saw the Rangers fall behind early and often. That clutch play made a memorable few days in the Bronx even more special.

"It's not every day you get to play catch in Yankee Stadium. So you do try and embrace it and have fun with it," Moore said. "It's a thing you try and enjoy. They're special opportunities. Good memories with two wins, most importantly. It's always more special when you win those games."

Considering Moore's success at the ballpark, the pre-skate toss could potentially replace the traditional soccer ball kick-around enjoyed by many players.

"Who knows?" Moore joked. "Maybe we'll throw a football around? We'll see."
