The Dallas Stars on Wednesday signed forward Ryan Garbutt to a three-year contract extension.
In his third NHL season, Garbutt has already reached career highs in games played (46), goals (10), assists (eight), points (18) and penalty minutes (61).
"Ryan has shown that he is an effective, hard-hitting forward that plays the game with a great deal of speed and tenacity," Dallas general manager Jim Nill said. "Over the course of the season, he has earned the trust of his coaching staff and has played himself into a role where we ask him to play against our opponent's top players on a nightly basis. It's a great credit to the work he has put in and we're excited to have him signed."
Garbutt, 28, signed with the Stars as an undrafted free agent on July 1, 2011. He has career totals of 15 goals, 31 points and 115 penalty minutes in 102 games.
