Brodeur admits being traded from Devils possibility

Martin Brodeur said Tuesday that being traded by the New Jersey Devils is "definitely something that is possible" and he would not be insulted if the team asked him to accept a deal.

"It's within the team's rights to try and make themselves better," the goaltender said in an interview with NJ.com. "The fact is, I have the luxury to decide what I want to do. I hope if [general manager Lou Lamoriello] is able to help the team, he'll ask, regardless of what it is. It's definitely something that is possible."

"I definitely would like to play more, so if there is a chance somewhere ...," Brodeur told reporter Rich Chere.

"But I'm not looking for that. I want to make sure this team gets on a playoff run. We'll see what happens, but stranger things have happened."

Brodeur, an unrestricted free agent after this season, has a no-trade clause in his contract. He has played his entire record-breaking, 21-season career with the Devils, who entered play Tuesday sixth in the Metropolitan Division and 11th in the Eastern Conference.

This season, he is 13-11-4 with a 2.52 goals-against average and .899 save percentage in 28 games. Schneider is 9-10-7 with a 1.86 GAA and .927 save percentage in 27 games after a 3-0 loss to the Blues.

"We're going to go game to game, day to day. I'm not planning anything other than the game we're playing that day," coach Peter DeBoer told the website. "I don't think there is any doubt we're in the home stretch here and the final sprint, so my lineup decisions are going to be based solely on who gives us the best chance to win a game that night."

Schneider split time with Roberto Luongo on the Vancouver Canucks before being traded to New Jersey at the NHL Draft in June. Schneider was asked how he would feel if Brodeur were to be traded.

"I'm sure Lou is doing whatever he can to improve this team," Schneider said. "If he sees a move that is there to make, I'm sure he'll go about it the right way."
