Zetterberg sat out the Red Wings' game Sunday against the Florida Panthers with a back issue and is considered day-to-day. However, Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told the Detroit Free Press that Zetterberg would not be with the team when it traveled to Philadelphia.
Giving Zetterberg off Sunday and Tuesday would give the 33-year-old forward seven days out of game action if he is able to play in the Red Wings' following game, Friday against the Washington Capitals.
Holland also told the newspaper Pavel Datsyuk also will not travel with the team. Datsyuk last played Jan. 1 due to a lower-body injury. He's considered close to being able to return but apparently won't be ready for Tuesday.
