Devils' Jagr appreciates Stadium Series setting
After more than two decades of life in North America, Jaromir Jagr certainly could appreciate what it meant to be dressing in the Yankees' clubhouse Saturday prior to his team's practice at Yankee Stadium.

NEW YORK -- Growing up in Czechoslovakia, New Jersey Devils forward Jaromir Jagr didn't know anything about Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio or the New York Yankees.

But after more than two decades of life in North America, Jagr certainly could appreciate what it meant to be dressing in the Yankees clubhouse Saturday prior to Devils practice at Yankee Stadium.

New Jersey plays the New York Rangers in the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series on Sunday (12:30 p.m. ET, NBC, CBC).

"It's a very special place just to play here," Jagr said. "And I'm from Czech so baseball is not very popular. I can imagine for some guys who love baseball, [what it's like] just to be here."

Jagr said what struck him most was the size of the Yankees locker room.

"I've never seen anything like that," he said. "It's so big. You don't know who is sitting on the other side. It's going to be tough for the coaches to have a meeting. If you make a mistake [the coaches] probably are not going to find you in 15 minutes [intermission]. So that's a good thing about it."

Quote of the Day

This is a great day for me. This is something I've been thinking about for a long time. This is a great opportunity that the St. Louis Blues organization, (owner) Tom Stillman and Doug Armstrong are giving me and trusting me in doing...This is going to be a great challenge for me.

— Martin Brodeur, after announcing his retirement as an NHL player and becoming a senior adviser with the Blues on Thursday
