Muzzin: Fun today, all business tomorrow

Los Angeles Kings defenseman Jake Muzzin is a veteran of outdoor hockey, except he played on ponds in his hometown of Woodstock, Ontario. Muzzin's first NHL outdoor game will be nothing like what he's used to. The first game in the 2014 Coors Light NHL Stadium Series is on Saturday between the Kings and Anaheim Ducks at Dodger Stadium (9:30 p.m. ET, NBCSN, CBC). Muzzin will be blogging for NHL.com through the event.

His second blog entry comes after the Kings got a chance to practice at Dodger Stadium on Friday:

LOS ANGELES -- A hockey practice on the ice at Dodger Stadium. Seriously, who would have ever thought they would be doing something like that?

We got that chance Friday and it was so exciting and a lot of fun. Any time you get to skate in a different place like this, in a different environment with elements that are new it's always cool. This place amps it up even more.

It's exciting to see the guys putting eye-black on and the different expressions on their faces as they step onto the ice, skate around, get a feel for it. It was all just so cool, and it definitely takes a little bit of the edge off after losing Thursday night in Anaheim.

Having everyone's wives or girlfriends here, seeing them skate around in the family skate with the kids, it serves as a good distraction from the results we've been getting lately. We know we lost Thursday and we want to win Saturday. It'll be business on Saturday, but getting out there for practice and watching the family skate -- I didn't have anybody with me -- it's exciting and it's almost like a stress reliever.

My favorite part of the day, though, might have been playing soccer with the guys in left field. That was really cool because it gave you an idea of what this place is like, with the rink and the beach volleyball court.

Now it's all about the excitement for the game Saturday. Being a part a great event, the outdoor game, the first one in California, the rivalry we have with the Ducks, it's all going to be thrilling.

I'm starting to picture what this place is going to be like with 55,000 here. I hadn't really thought about it until I walked out here near the ice, but it'll be amazing. There are a lot of seats here.

It's also going to be different because we're used to fans right on the glass, but obviously they're going to be further away here. We'll see how that feels, especially when the crowd is yelling.

If you haven't been able to tell, I'm definitely amped up now that I'm here. After the loss Thursday I was like, 'Oh, great, the outdoor game,' but now that I'm here it opens my eyes to the venue and how big it's going to be.

Getting out here, on the ice, it's a lot more exciting thinking about the game now than it was Thursday night.
