Oilers purchase ECHL affiliate Bakersfield Condors

EDMONTON - The Edmonton Oilers have bought their ECHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors, from current owner Jonathan Fleisig.

The California-based Condors have been the Oilers' affiliate since July 18.

"The Oilers wanted an ECHL partner with strong ties to the community, a great fan base and league-leading business and marketing operations," said Rexall Sports Corp president and chief operating operator Patrick LaForge. "We found that in the Condors."

"The deal will give the Condors a deeper pool of player talent and access to the expertise of the Edmonton Oilers business operations, while also ensuring what makes the franchise so special — its strong roots in Bakersfield and local management — remain intact.

Quote of the Day

This team has been a real treat to say you've been the head coach of them. I'm extremely proud of this group ... after the disappointment of (the Game 6 loss) is digested, it's always a lot easier as a coach when your team has emptied its tank, and that team emptied its tank for me for three months.
