BUFFALO – Florida Panthers rookie center Aleksander Barkov left the game against the Buffalo Sabres at First Niagara Center on Tuesday with a lower-body injury and will not return.

Barkov played 5:31 in the first period. He did not take another shift after recording the secondary assist on Sean Bergenheim’s 11th goal of the season with 1:56 to play in the first.

Barkov was the third player selected at the 2013 NHL Draft. He is ninth in rookie scoring this season with 23 points.

Quote of the Day

We have no doubt how he can play. You don't, with four teams that are left, you're not getting here without good goaltending. All great goalies left, and [Bishop] is a top-tier goaltender in this league and he's shown it.
