Goaltender Corbin Boes makes 36 saves as Winterhawks top Giants 5-2

PORTLAND, Ore. - Corbin Boes made 36 saves as the Portland Winterhawks defeated the Vancouver Giants 5-2 in the lone Western Hockey League game Monday.

Brendan Leipsic had a goal and three assists to lead Portland (31-12-5), while Paul Bittner, Derrick Pouliot and Nicolas Petan all scored and added an assist. Mathew Dumba chipped in as well.

Dalton Sward and Cain Franson supplied the offence for Vancouver (23-17-8), while Payton Lee stopped 38 shots.

The Winterhawks were 1 for 6 on the power play, while the Giants went 1 for 9 with the man advantage.

Portland's on a seven-game point streak, having won six and losing once in the shootout in that span.
