Michael Hutchinson's 26 saves lead IceCaps to 2-0 shutout against Monarchs

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Michael Hutchinson's 26-save shutout carried the St.John's IceCaps to a 2-0 win over the Manchester Monarchs on Monday night in American Hockey League action.

Blair Riley and Andrew Gordon scored for the IceCaps (21-16-3).

Gordon scored off a rebound from a Will O'Neill slapshot 14:06 into the third period, after Jean-Francois Berube was caught out of position after doing well to make the first save.

Berube finished with 25 saves for the Monarchs (26-12-6).

Both teams were 0 for 3 with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

I spent a long summer thinking about that playoff series and what could have been. [The Blackhawks] ended up being the Stanley Cup champions, so we know we lost to a very good team. It's tough to know how close we were, and it motivates us for this year.
