Maple Leafs place Clarkson on injured reserve
The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed forwards David Clarkson and Frazer McLaren on injured reserve.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed forwards David Clarkson and Frazer McLaren on injured reserve.

Tom Gulitti of The (Bergen) Record reports Clarkson said Sunday, when his former team the New Jersey Devils was in town to face the Maple Leafs, that he would have to miss some time to get a bursa sac in his elbow removed.

Clarkson played that night and each of Toronto's following two games, but he hasn't recorded a point since Dec. 23. In his first season with the Maple Leafs after signing a seven-year, $37 million contract, he has three goals, eight points and 51 penalty minutes in 36 games.

McLaren has played in 22 games this season, just two since Dec. 16, and is scoreless with 67 penalty minutes.

Quote of the Day

He is, in my opinion, one of the best defensemen in the NHL and continuing to grow. I think his game, from an offensive standpoint, he continues to drive our offense... I think there's still tremendous upside for Oliver.
