Blue Jackets recall D Dalton Prout from Springfield to fill in for Tyutin

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenceman Dalton Prout from their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass.

Prout may fill in for Fedor Tyutin, who missed Thursday's practice with an undisclosed illness.

The 23-year-old Prout has two assists, 31 penalty minutes and 41 blocked shots in 25 games with Columbus this season. He had a goal and six assists with 27 penalty minutes and a plus-15 rating in 28 games with the Blue Jackets last season.

Columbus' seventh pick, 154th overall, in the 2010 NHL draft, the 6-foot-3, 222-pound Prout has one goal and eight assists in 58 career NHL games.

Quote of the Day

That's a really tough thing to play through; when you finally are thrown out there, the game is fast, intense, every single play matters, you've got to find a way to play through that and make smart plays. So it's a huge testament to [Vermette] and some other individuals in our locker room that are putting their own ego, their own wants and needs aside, and are ready for those opportunities when they do come.
