ROCKFORD, Ill. - Markus Granlund scored a power-play goal 3:40 into overtime as the Abbotsford Heat rallied for a 4-3 victory over the Rockford IceHogs on Wednesday in American Hockey League action.

The Heat (25-13-2) trailed 3-1 going into the final period before winning their second row, both in overtime. Evan Trupp made it a one-goal game 17 seconds into the period with his first goal of the season, and Chad Billins tied it at 13:56.

Defenceman Mark Cundari got the other Abbotsford goal on the power play in the second period.

Brad Winchester and Garret Ross gave Rockford (18-17-6) a 2-0 lead in the first period, and Brandon Mashinter made it 3-1 in the second.

Joey MacDonald made 32 saves for Abbotsford, and Jason Labarbera handled 29 shots for the IceHogs.

Quote of the Day

I downplayed the first one because I thought it's just a hockey game. We just want to win the game; it's against our rival and we want the two points. I downplayed it, but now having gone through the first one I look back and say, 'Geez, that was really cool.' I think as I've grown a bit older I've got a lot more appreciation for what we're allowed to do every day.
