COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned defenceman Dalton Prout to their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass. on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Prout has two assists, 31 penalty minutes and 41 blocked shots in 25 games with Columbus this season. He tallied one goal and six assists with 27 penalty minutes and a +15 rating in 28 games with the Blue Jackets during the 2012-13 campaign, leading the club in plus/minus while ranking second among rookie NHL defencemen.

A native of Kingsville, Ontario, Prout was Columbus' seventh pick, 154th overall, in the 2010 NHL draft.

Quote of the Day

We want to make sure that whoever makes our team really makes our team by earning it and not putting them in situations where they get preference because of their status as a first-round pick or whatever it might be. That's not going to happen. Everybody has to earn their way on our team.
