QMJHL Roundup: Laplante scores 4 as Victoriaville embarrasses Cape Breton 12-3

VICTORIAVILLE, Que. - Yan Pavel Laplante scored four goals as the Victoriaville Tigres humbled the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles with a 12-3 blowout in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League play Saturday.

Laplante scored the first three goals of the game and all four in the first period. The opening 11 minutes of the game included a hat trick by Laplante and a hooking penalty called on him that resulted in a missed Cape Breton penalty shot.

Laplante's two assists gave him a six-point game. Gabriel Gagne and Carl Marois scored two each for the Tigres (18-19-6), while Jean-Francois Plante added a single and Angelo Miceli had a goal and five assists.

Cameron Darcy had two goals for the Screaming Eagles (22-18-3) with Loik Leveille also scoring.

Francois Tremblay finished with 30 saves for Victoriaville. In Cape Breton's net, Zachary Fortin allowed 10 goals on 30 shots. He was replaced with 15 minutes left in the game by Alex Bureau, who gave up two goals on seven shots.

MOOSEHEADS 4 TITAN 2

HALIFAX — Nikolaj Ehlers scored twice as the Mooseheads doubled Acadie-Bathurst.

Brent Andrews and Darcy Ashley also scored for Halifax (27-16-1).

Mark Trickett and Simon Fortier replied for the Titan (16-23-4).

Kevin Darveau turned aside 17 shots in Halifax's net, while at the other end of the ice Jacob Brennan made 32 saves.

CATARACTES 4 WILDCATS 2

MONCTON, N.B. — Shawinigan's three unanswered goals in the second period put them ahead of the Wildcats for good.

Alexis D'Aoust, Anthony Beauvillier, Felix-Antoine Bergeron and Gabriel Slight had a goal apiece for the Cataractes (11-27-6).

Jacob Sweeney, with a short-handed goal, and Christophe Lalonde had goals for Moncton (23-20-2).

Shawinigan's Marvin Cupper stopped 33 shots. Moncton's Alex Dubeau meanwhile made 17 saves.

REMPARTS 3 SEA DOGS 1

QUEBEC CITY — Adam Erne scored twice as the Remparts contained Saint John.

Nick Sorensen added a single for Quebec (24-12-8).

Noah Zilbert's goal with one minute left in regulation was all the offence the league-worst Sea Dogs (11-27-3) would get.

Remparts goaltender Francois Brassard finished with 26 saves, one better than Sebastien Auger had for the Sea Dogs.

DRAKKAR 3 HUSKIES 2

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Baie-Comeau roared back from a 2-0 deficit to beat the Huskies.

Dominic Poulin, Alexandre Ranger and Francis Turbide scored three unanswered goals for the Drakkar (27-12-4).

Jeremy Lauzon and Francis Beauvillier had goals for Rouyn-Noranda (25-12-5).

Baie-Comeau goaltender Simon Lemieux kicked out 27 shots. At the other end of the ice, Alexandre Belanger made 26 saves.
