Lightning's Salo leaves game with lower-body injury
Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Sami Salo left the game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday with a lower-body injury.

PHILADELPHIA -- Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Sami Salo left his team's game Saturday against the Philadelphia Flyers due to a lower-body injury sustained in the first period.

Salo played seven shifts totaling 4:30 in the first period, with his final one ending with 2:43 left in the period.

The Lightning had seven defensemen in the lineup, which allowed coach Jon Cooper to keep from over-taxing his remaining defenders.

Salo, 39, entered the game with seven points and a plus-6 rating in 37 games while averaging 19:16 per game.

Quote of the Day

That's today's game. That's one of the things you have to deal with when you're a championship team. Guys are going to earn more money based on their performance and what they've achieved, [and] deservedly so. [Saad] falls into that category.
