After missing 7 games with shoulder injury, Matt Calvert activated by Columbus Blue Jackets

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets activated forward Matt Calvert off injured reserve Thursday after he missed seven games because of a shoulder injury.

Calvert was hurt in a 6-3 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Dec. 21.

The 24-year-old has four goals and four assists in 17 games this season and has 24 goals and 23 assists in 114 career NHL games, all with the Blue Jackets. He was Columbus' fifth pick, 127th overall, in the 2008 NHL draft.

The 5-11, 187-pound left winger from Brandon, Manitoba, had nine goals and seven assists in 42 games with the Blue Jackets in 2012-13 and added 10 goals and 11 assists in 34 games with Springfield, Mass., of the American Hockey League.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
