Twin Cities twins: Parise the latest Minnesota sports star to welcome twins after Twins' Mauer

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Zach Parise has become the latest Minnesota sports star to be a father of twins.

The Wild announced that Parise's wife, Alisha, gave birth Wednesday to Emelia and Jaxson, a girl and a boy. Last year, Twins catcher Joe Mauer and his wife, Maddie, welcomed girls Emily and Maren.

Mauer and Parise both grew up in the Twin Cities area: Mauer in St. Paul and Parise in Bloomington.

Mauer had to rush home from a road trip to be with his wife when she went into labour last July, but Parise didn't have to worry about that. The left wing is out with a foot injury.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
