Hurricanes shut down by a blizzard: NHL postpones Carolina at Buffalo Sabres because of snow

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Hurricanes have been shut down by a blizzard.

The NHL has postponed the game scheduled for Tuesday night in Buffalo between the Sabres and Carolina because of a snowstorm in western New York.

A makeup date has not been determined. The postponement comes with Buffalo dealing with a wintry blast of near-zero temperatures, heavy winds and blinding snow that has forced the closure of most major roadways.

The Hurricanes got to Buffalo before the brunt of the storm hit Monday afternoon. The weather, however, prevented both teams from holding their usual morning pregame skates.

Rescheduling the game could prove difficult in the near future. The Hurricanes host Toronto on Thursday, before travelling to play Columbus on Friday. The Sabres are in the midst of playing 15 games in 31 days.

Quote of the Day

In respect to the organization and my teammates, it was the best move. When I look back at my career and all the different things I had to overcome, I have no regrets. It was great.
