OTTAWA -- Ottawa Senators right wing Chris Neil left the game against the Washington Capitals after colliding with Alex Ovechkin midway through the first period and will not return.

Neil was favoring his left leg as he skated off the ice at Canadian Tire Centre after an awkward collision with Ovechkin, who remained in the game. The Senators said Neil sustained a lower-body injury and would not return.

Neil, who leads Ottawa with 99 penalty minutes, has five goals and one assist in 41 games.
