Marvin Cupper makes 40 saves, Germany upsets Czechs 3-0 at world juniors

MALMO, Sweden - Marvin Cupper made 40 saves and Frederik Tiffels had two goals and an assist as Germany shocked the Czech Republic 3-0 Monday at the world junior hockey championship.

The win puts the final playoff berth in Group A in question. If the Czechs beat Slovakia on Tuesday, they will go through. If they lose, Germany will get the last quarter-final berth.

Dominik Kahun added a goal and an assist for Germany (1-3-0, three points).

Marek Langhamer made 31 saves for the Czechs (1-2-0, two points).

While both teams have one win, Germany has more points because they won their game in regulation, while the Czech Republic beat Canada 5-4 in a shootout.
