MALMO, Sweden - Matt Grzelyck, Jack Eichel and Ryan Hartman each had a goal and an assist as the United States dumped Slovakia 6-3 Saturday at the world junior hockey championship.
Martin Reway had a pair of goals for Slovakia (1-1-0), while Milan Kolena also scored.
The United States took a 2-0 lead after the first period. Eichel opened the scoring at 16:53, while O'Regan scored a vital goal with just one second left in the period.
Hartman put the U.S. up 3-0 with a goal 4:22 into the second period, before Slovakia came back with a pair of goals to make it 3-2 after 40 minutes.
The United States put the game away with three straight goals in the third. Reway's second of the game at 17:52 of the third wasn't nearly enough to close the gap.
Jon Gillies stopped 27 of 30 shots for the U.S.
Richard Sabol made 41 saves on 47 shots for Slovakia.
