The Buffalo Sabres on Thursday acquired forward Linus Omark from the Edmonton Oilers in a trade for a conditional sixth-round draft pick.

Omark has played one game for Edmonton this season after appearing in 65 from 2010-12. He played last season in Switzerland.

This season, Omark has 29 points (14 goals) in 29 games for Oklahoma City in the American Hockey League. He has eight goals and 22 assists in the NHL.

"It could be a good time for him," Sabres interim coach Ted Nolan said after a 4-2 win against the Boston Bruins. "He’s a very talented young man. Maybe it’s the perfect time."
