Columbus Blue Jackets defenceman Dalton Prout to miss 2-3 weeks with upper-body injury

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets placed defenceman Dalton Prout on injured reserve Wednesday retroactive to Dec. 16 because of an upper-body injury that will likely sideline to miss two to three weeks.

The 23-year-old Prout has two assists, 29 penalty minutes and 41 blocked shots in 24 games with Columbus this season. He had a goal, six assists, 25 penalty minutes and a plus-15 rating in 28 games with the Blue Jackets last season, leading the club in plus/minus while ranking second among rookie NHL defencemen in that category.

The 6-foot-3, 222-pounder was Columbus' seventh pick, 154th overall, in the 2010 draft.

Quote of the Day

I'm very excited about what happened today. We've worked on this deal with Toronto for a month, or over a month. It got a little bit of legs on draft day, but it really heated up last night, and we were able to complete the deal today.
