Jets send forward John Albert to St. John's following eight-game stint

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets have re-assigned forward John Albert to the St. John's IceCaps of the American Hockey League.

Albert, 24, appeared in his first NHL game and scored his first goal on Dec. 2 versus the New York Rangers. He did not get another point during his eight-game stint with the Jets.

Albert has three goals and five assists in 23 games with St. John's this season.

He was originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the sixth round, 175th overall, in the 2007 NHL draft.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.

— Bryan Trottier on making his return to coaching as an assistant with the Sabres
