QMJHL Roundup: Drummondville Voltigeurs beats Val-d'Or Foreurs 5-4 in OT

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. - Frederick Gaudreau scored twice, including the winner, as the Drummondville Voltigeurs edged the visiting Val-d'Or Foreurs 5-4 on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Gaudreau scored his 20th goal of the season 1:14 into overtime for the Voltigeurs (21-11-2), who led 4-2 after 40 minutes before giving up two third period goals. Jerome Verrier, Matthew Boudens and Joe Ratelle added the others.

Louick Marcotte, Pierre-Maxime Poudrier, Maxime Presseault and Anthony Richard supplied the scoring for the Foreurs (23-11-1), who had their eight-game win streak halted. Marcotte tacked on two assists for a three-point outing.

Louis-Philip Guindon made 25 saves for Drummondville as Val-d'Or's Keven Bouchard turned away 28-of-33 shots in a losing cause.

The Voltigeurs went 1 for 4 on the power play while the Foreurs scored twice on six chances with the man advantage.

CHICOUTIMI, Que. — The Sagueneens jumped out to a 5-0 lead en route to defeating Halifax.

Simon Tremblay led Chicoutimi (18-17-1) offensively with a goal and two assists while Sebastien Sylvestre, Samuel Roussy, Laurent Dauphin, Jasmin Boutet and Nicolas Roy each scored once.

Andrew Schewfelt and Luca Ciampini had a goal apiece for the Mooseheads (23-12-1), who have dropped back-to-back contests.

Domenic Graham made 19 saves for the Sagueneens as Halifax's Kevin Darveau kicked out 32-of-48 shots in defeat.

PHOENIX 4 TITAN 0

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Francis Desrosiers stopped all 39 shots he faced as the Phoenix blanked Acadie-Bathurst.

Jean-Francois Plante scored three goals for Sherbrooke (12-20-3) and Simon Desbiens added another.

Patrick Walsh and Guillaume Brisebois led the Titan (13-18-3) with five shots apiece on net.

Jacob Brennan turned aside 28-of-32 shots for Acadie-Bathurst, which dropped its fourth game in a row.

HUSKIES 2 ARMADA 1 (SO)

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Jean-Sebastien Dea scored the shootout winner as Rouyn-Noranda edged the Armada.

Marcus Power scored in regulation for the Huskies (20-10-3), who are 8-1-1 in their last 10 contests.

Samuel Hodhod scored the lone goal for Blainville-Boisbriand (23-5-6), which still holds a four-point lead atop the QMJHL standings.

Alexandre Belanger made 23 saves for Rouyn-Noranda while Etienne Marcoux stopped 33 shots for the Armada.
