Clarkson suspended two games for illegal check
Toronto forward David Clarkson has been suspended for XX games, without pay, for an illegal check to the head of St. Louis LW Vladimir Sobotka.

NEW YORK -- Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Clarkson has been suspended for two games, without pay, for delivering an illegal check to the head of St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Sobotka during NHL Game No. 477 in St. Louis on Thursday, Dec. 12, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 6:28 of the second period. Clarkson was assessed a minor penalty for illegal check to the head.

Clarkson is considered a repeat offender under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, will forfeit $128,048.78. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
