The Philadelphia Flyers have done of an admirable job of climbing out of the huge hole they dug themselves at the start of the season, but they face a huge test in front of a national television audience Wednesday night.

Philadelphia (13-14-3) will be in the Windy City to take on the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center (8 p.m., NBCSN, TSN2), where the defending Stanley Cup champions boast a 10-2-4 record. Chicago is returning home after a 6-2 road win against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.

Here's a closer look at the action Wednesday:

Los Angeles Kings at Toronto Maple Leafs -- It's the first game between these teams since the Kings and Maple Leafs made a trade on June 23 involving goalies Jonathan Bernier and Ben Scrivens. It's conceivable the two will face each other Wednesday. Bernier is 9-8-2 with a 2.49 goals-against average and .929 save percentage for Toronto, and Scrivens is 7-2-4 with a 1.56 GAA and a NHL-best .943 save percentage.

Philadelphia Flyers at Chicago Blackhawks -- Philadelphia will be trying to avoid a three-game skid after dropping a 5-4 shootout decision to the Ottawa Senators on Monday. Kimmo Timonen erased a 4-3 deficit midway through the third period, but the Flyers came up empty against Senators goalie Craig Anderson in the breakaway competition. Chicago will play its second game in as many nights after cruising past Dallas at American Airlines Center on Tuesday. Patrick Sharp and Brandon Saad each scored twice and Patrick Kane had a goal and two assists for the Blackhawks, who have a six-point lead atop the Central Division.

Minnesota Wild at Anaheim Ducks -- Minnesota opens a three-game road trip and a stretch of seven of eight games away from home against the Ducks, who are the only team in the NHL yet to lose in regulation on home ice (11-0-2). At 5-6-3 away from Xcel Energy Center, the Wild are the only team in the League with at least 40 points that is below .500 on the road. Anaheim has earned a point in six straight games.
