Flyers place Lecavalier on IR, recall McGinn
The Philadelphia Flyers on Monday placed center Vincent Lecavalier on injured reserve and recalled forward Tye McGinn

Philadelphia Flyers center Vincent Lecavalier on Monday was placed on injured reserve with a non-displaced fracture in his lower back, and the team recalled forward Tye McGinn from their American Hockey League team, the Adirondack Phantoms, to fill his roster spot.

McGinn has three goals in six games with the Flyers this season. He has six goals and seven points in 17 games for Adirondack, where he serves as the team's alternate captain.

The club had announced Sunday that Lecavalier is expected to be out at least 3-4 weeks.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Lecavalier skated Saturday in Dallas, but that his back tightened and became sore as the day progressed.

"He had an X-ray in Dallas and they found something on the X-ray that didn't look right, so we flew him back to Philadelphia [on Sunday] to get him into our own doctors' hands," Holmgren said. "He had an MRI done and they found a non-displaced fracture in his lower back."
