Eric Gelinas scores in overtime, Devils regroup to beat Rangers 4-3

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Eric Gelinas scored a power-play goal 1:15 into overtime, and the New Jersey Devils shook off the tying goal in the closing seconds of regulation to beat the New York Rangers 4-3 on Saturday night.

Gelinas one-timed a shot, off a pass from Patrik Elias, from above the right circle past Henrik Lundqvist. The goal came 13 seconds after Rangers captain Ryan Callahan high-sticked Andy Greene in the mouth.

Michael Ryder put the Devils ahead 3-2 with 4:04 left in regulation, but Chris Kreider tied it on a power-play goal with 21.3 seconds left.

Martin Brodeur made 21 saves for the Devils, who have won all three meetings with the Rangers this season. New Jersey earned just its third win in nine games (3-5-1).

Quote of the Day

We think that Randy is a very good coach. Our players think that Randy is a very good coach. We think that he's going to get the most out of this group. With the addition of the two assistants, a bit of a different dynamic, we're very comfortable that this is a quality coaching staff that's going to maximize the potential of this team.
