Deslauriers makes 30 saves as Penguins shutout St. John's IceCaps 3-0

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Jeff Deslauriers made 30 saves as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins shutout the St. John's IceCaps 3-0 Saturday in American Hockey League action.

Tom Kuhnhackl, Brian Gibbons and Brian Farnham scored for the Penguins (14-6-1).

Penguins forward Tom Kuhnhackl opened the scoring at the 10:10 mark of the first with a five-hole backhand off a rebound on the power play.

The Penguins doubled their lead with 2:43 left in the second, when Brian Gibbons finished off a give-and-go with Bobby Farnham.

Farnham added to the goal tally 21 seconds into the third period beating IceCaps (12-10-3) goalie Eddie Pasquale glove side with a high wrist shot in the slot.

Pasquale stopped 13 shots for the IceCaps.

The IceCaps were scoreless in four power-play opportunities while the Penguins were 1 for 2 with the man advantage.
