Colin Smith scores twice, Lake Erie Monsters beat Hamilton Bulldogs 4-1

CLEVELAND - Centre Colin Smith scored twice as the Lake Erie Monsters turned the tables on the Hamilton Bulldogs with a 4-1 victory on Friday in American Hockey League play.

The Bulldogs (10-10-3) won by that same 4-1 score in their previous game, when the teams met last Saturday in Hamilton.

Smith opened the scoring for Lake Erie (12-9-1) with his third goal of the season at 4:54 of the first period, and he made it 4-0 on the power play at 1:38 of the third. Joey Hishon and Matt Hunwick got the other Lake Erie goals.

Centre Maxime Macenauer spoiled Calvin Pickard's shutout bid with a power-play goal at 16:45 of the third period. It was his second goal of the season.

Pickard finished with 21 saves. Dustin Tokarski stopped 25 shots for the Monsters.

Hamilton was 1 for 4 on the power play, while Lake Erie connected on 3 of 6 attempts with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

It's about enjoying the moment. It's pretty cool to get that many people together and that excited about hockey to the point they really want you to mess up. They've got a ton of red jerseys and you have to sit back and appreciate people love hockey that much and you are the one out there who gets to play the game. Just try and stick with that respect for the game and also the mentality that for me it's just about entering the fight and seeing how long I can stay in it.
