Klingberg scores twice, Pasquale makes 20 saves as IceCaps blank Penguins 5-0

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Carl Klingberg scored two goals and Eddie Pasquale stopped 20 shots as the St. John's IceCaps blanked the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 5-0 on Friday in American Hockey League action.

Zach Redmond, Jerome Samson and Andrew Gordon also scored for the IceCaps (12-9-3).

Klingberg scored again midway through the second period, finishing a pass from JC Lipon, who was behind the net, to make it 2-0 St. John's.

Redmond made it 3-0 before the second period was through when he scored on the power play.

Samson and Gordon scored 1:05 apart in the third period to complete St. John's offence.

Hartzell made 24 saves for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The IceCaps went 2 for 5 on the power play while the Penguins failed to score on five chances with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

I have been blessed to play for 16 years in the NHL; it has been an amazing ride. I would like to thank the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers organizations and owners for providing me the opportunity to play the sport I love for so many years. I could have never played for so long or accomplished all that I have without the unwavering love and support from my wife, Heather, our three sons, Ryan, Lucas, and Mason, and my parents.
