Coyotes assign veteran defenseman Klesla to AHL
Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Rostislav Klesla, who recently cleared waivers, was assigned Monday to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

Phoenix Coyotes defenseman Rostislav Klesla, who recently cleared waivers, was assigned Monday to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

Klesla, 31, has one goal, two assists and 10 penalty minutes in 15 games with the Coyotes this season. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound native of the Czech Republic has registered 48 goals, 110 assists and 606 penalty minutes in 649 NHL games with the Coyotes and Columbus Blue Jackets.

Klesla was the No. 4 pick in the 2000 NHL Draft by Columbus.
