Capitals place Neuvirth on injured reserve
The Washington Capitals placed goaltender Michal Neuvirth on injured reserve Monday with a lower-body injury.

The Washington Capitals placed goaltender Michal Neuvirth on injured reserve Monday.

Neuvirth has missed the Capitals' past two games with a lower-body injury. He was placed on IR retroactive to Nov. 29 and is eligible to be activated Saturday.

Philipp Grubauer is serving as the backup to Braden Holtby in Neuvirth's absence.

Capitals forward Brooks Laich will miss the game Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes. It will be his third straight game out of the lineup with a lower-body injury.
