Joe Pavelski scores in shootout to lift Sharks to 4-3 victory over Ducks

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Joe Pavelski scored in the shootout and Antti Niemi stopped all three attempts to help the San Jose Sharks beat the Anaheim Ducks 4-3 on Saturday night.

Logan Couture scored his first goal in eight games. Patrick Marleau and Marty Havlat also scored for the Sharks, who finished a season-long five-game homestand unbeaten and won their eighth in nine overall.

Corey Perry, Alex Grant and Ben Lovejoy scored for the Ducks, who had won three of their past four.

Niemi stopped 28 of 31 shots for his 15th win. Jonas Hiller saved 32 shots in taking the loss.

The Ducks have lost six of their past seven road games.

Quote of the Day

When we started our journey we made a commitment to our fans to be relevant and to see the Chicago Blackhawks become the best professional hockey organization. There are not two finer symbols of that than Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. The commitment we have made to these incredible young men is equal to the commitment they have made to our team, our fans, our entire organization and the city of Chicago.
