Physical Reaves provides impact for Blues
Ryan Reeves is a big part of the physical identity for the St. Louis Blues, and not just because he's willing to drop the gloves.

The St. Louis Blues are considered one of the toughest teams to play against in the NHL because of their physical, grinding style that compliments their collection of highly skilled players.

Ryan Reeves is a big part of the physical identity for the Blues, and not just because he's willing to drop the gloves. Dallas Stars rookie Valeri Nichushkin found that out in the first period of a game Saturday, Nov. 22 against the Blues at Scottrade Center.

Reeves nailed Nichushkin with a big hit near the benches with a little more than eight minutes to go in the opening period of a 6-1 victory for the Blues. The collision propelled the talented Russian rookie into the St. Louis bench, where he unexpectedly ended up sitting next to a few more foes than he had intended.

While Reeves leads the Blues in penalty minutes with 65, he's also second on the team behind top center David Backes in hits with 69 despite averaging fewer than eight minutes of ice time per contest. Nichushkin can attest to Reeves' ability to make his presence felt in a limited amount of ice time.
