Stars' Robidas breaks leg vs. Blackhawks
Dallas Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas broke his leg in the second period against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday night, the team said.

DALLAS -- Dallas Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas left the game against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday after sustaining a broken leg with 7:26 remaining in the second period, the team said.

Robidas slid into the end boards while attempting to block a shot or pass from Blackhawks center Jonathan Toews. He may have sustained the injury while pivoting to defend Toews, who was skating toward the Dallas goal.

Robidas, 36, the longest-tenured player on the Dallas roster, immediately pointed to his right leg as Stars medical personnel dashed to his aid. After being attended to for several minutes behind the Dallas goal, he left the ice on a stretcher, leaving the Stars with five healthy defensemen.

Dallas was killing off the first power play of the game, which came at 11:31 when Rich Peverley, the game's lone goal-scorer to that point, was whistled for tripping.

Robidas, who has five points (four goals, one assist) in 23 games this season, was attempting to impede Toews near the left faceoff circle when he slid into the end boards rather violently.

The veteran defenseman reportedly was taken to University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas for treatment.
