Predators captain Shea Weber out against Oilers after apparently taking puck to face

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Predators captain Shea Weber will not return after getting hurt late in the second period against the Edmonton Oilers with what the team is calling an upper body injury.

Weber dropped to the ice at 15:24 of the second Thursday night after apparently taking a puck to the face. The defenceman got up and skated immediately to the locker room.

He came into the game tied with Erik Karlsson of Ottawa, Torey Krug of Boston and Michael Stone of Phoenix for most goals among defencemen with seven, and Weber is the only defenceman leading his team in goals scored.

Quote of the Day

It's pretty crazy, but believe me when I say we didn't draft these players with the mindset we had to because they had good hockey-playing dads. It just turned out that way. But we're certainly glad they're a part of our organization.

— Arizona Coyotes director of amateur scouting Tim Bernhardt regarding the coincidence that six of the organization's top prospects are sons of former NHL players
